Even if all of this is true, HMG does not forcibly deport people. 🇬🇧 does not have a 🇲🇽 to dump people in. The consequences of a workplace immigration raid is a brief detention of the migrants, a bunch of new sham asylum claims and their release back into the community within a couple of days. I wish you would tell the truth.

🇬🇧 has neither the money nor the political will to pay for the vast detention and removal apparatus 🇺🇸 has. We can barely remove 🇦🇱/🇧🇷 nationals involuntarily, picked them because no paperwork is needed from the home country to deport.

"...lead to similar outcomes if the tentacles of Trumpism reached our shores."

It doesn't take Trumpism; we have our own, well-honed traditions of noxious State aggression against dissent amongst our own people, Nicola.

So: depending on how much we became willing to resist; the short answer to -

"Could the LA protests happen here?"

- is "yes".

Sending you the warmest of solidarity wishes! 😃🏴‍☠️

Agreed; the main difference being that in the US, the (far-)right are already in power while here Reform only have a handful of seats. If Farage was to take office (god forbid), then we would undoubtedly see the kinds of authoritarianism currently on display on the streets of LA.

Hmmmm: my only caveat Nicola, is that the two other big parties have been incrementally and disingenuously stalling Farage by BECOMING Farage for years, now. (Ps: I have just watched and LOVED your half hour interview on Politics Joe!)

Wishing you an excellent Tuesday! 😃🏴‍☠️
